Our Top 5 Favorite Family Board Games | West GA Family Photographer | K E Dyer Photography

It’s no secret that most kids would rather be playing Roblox or Fortnite these days. We try to keep an equal balance by limiting screen time and selecting board games the entire family can enjoy.  I think any kid will love the chance to be competitive and beat their parents in a game. I’ll start with my family’s top five board games.

1. Trouble

It’s just something about that pop die roller! We have spent hours playing Trouble and chasing each other around the board. The game is designed for up to four players. The first player to bring their 4 game pieces from “Home” to “Finish” wins the game.  Warning: this game does contain small pieces and not recommended for children under 3.

2. Connect 4

This two player game can quickly turn into an intense stare down to carefully strategize the next move! The first player to drop four of the same color pieces in a row wins the game.

3. Battleship

I will be honest and say that i’ve just recently learned how to play Battleship and I LOVE it! A parent will need to help the younger kids with the coordinates. One feature that I like about this game is the storage compartment to place the game pieces. The object of the game is to sink the other player’s ships before they sink yours. Warning: this game does contain small pieces and not recommended for children under 3.

4. Giant Checkers

This is an all time favorite in my home because of it’s large game pieces. It’s a  3-in-1 and includes checkers, tic-tac-toe, and mega tic-tac-toe on a reversible rug. The object of checkers is to be the last player standing when the opposite player cannot make any more moves. The object of tic tac toe is to get three Xs or Os in a row.

5. Pie Face!

The anticipation is real with the game! The kids loved being able to use whipped cream to get pied in the face, but you can get creative use alternatives. The object of the game is to use the spinner to determine the number of times to turn the handle. The player that doesn’t get pied in the face wins.

I want to know some of your family’s favorite board games. Comment below and let me know!
